Wet Workshop on Laboratory Diagnosis of Haemophilia
In 2023, IAHAD conducted two wet workshops on Laboratory Diagnosis of Haemophilia in collaboration with Sahyadri Hospitals, Pune from 23-26 th March 2023 and with Christian Medical College Vellore from 29-31 st March 2023.
The wet workshops on the diagnosis of haemophilia were designed to provide participants with hands-on experience and comprehensive knowledge in the field of haemophilia diagnostics, and bridge theoretical understanding with practical skills, covering essential aspects from coagulation cascade theories to instrumental selection and reagent choice. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions, attendees gained proficiency in sample collection, bleeding time assessment, clot retraction techniques, and screening tests. The workshop also focused on instrument familiarity, reagent selection, and real- world case studies, fostering a holistic understanding of haemophilia diagnosis for healthcare professionals.
The workshop agenda for both the workshops were meticulously crafted by the Laboratory Committee of IAHAD, skilfully co-chaired by Dr. Sukesh S Nair and Dr. Renu Saxena, providing expert guidance for a comprehensive learning experience. The participants included 1 physician and 1 laboratory personnel from the Haemophilia Treatment Centers (HTCs), with 10 participants from 5 Institutes at Sahyadri Hospital Pune and 16 participants from 8 Institutes at CMC Vellore.
